a comical advent
... or it may not be funny - who knows? Perhaps it'll be knee deep in melancholy or a lot of exhilarating high drama. The only way to know is to keep checking back - me and Daisy Hirst will be making this story all the way til the 25th of December (or thereabouts). You can read last year's here.

chill
This man got on the Overground at Haggerston last week during the Tube strikes.
I didn't really see this other one. He's at a cousin's wedding.

porridge deluge
Thought I'd post a spread of the line-work from the comic I'm working on for Editions Sarbacane. Tis taking me an age but I'll get there!! This is about the half-way mark, porridge getting everywhere.

move over!
I am going to keep posting a few things here from time to time, but will also be blogging at www.beckypalmer.co.uk from now on. I think. When there are minutes spare... A couple of group exhibitions that I'll have work in are over there now, including Stories Begging to be Told, which opens on the 3rd May. Next week! Eek! Come see us there.

New year underground
This comes with belated new year best-wishes and such - i never managed to get it finished for the actual day, but 2013 stays newish for a while doesn't it?
You can probably tell that i did mean to make it a whole three escalators so people could go both directions. I ran out of time or got lazy and so they can only go down, but it's not worrying them. Train's free after all, at least til midnight.

amulets
looking back through old sketchbooks, I found some pages of vague not-quite-anything thoughts about stories around amulets and charms. This was at the time of the Cheltenham Illustration Award 2012, which took the Pitt Rivers collection of these as the starting point for a brief. i don't know if it's just because they belong to me, but all these bits seem to add up to something closer to the atmosphere i wanted in the work i made at the end of it.
